Where should you go to chose your dog?
Where should you go to choose your dog?
Dogs or puppies can be acquired from a range of sources, each with potential advantages and disadvantages.
If you have decided on a pedigree puppy from a specific breed, you should ideally go to one that is accredited by the Kennel Club. Such breeders work to an agreed code of standards which can provide you with confidence. Follow the link to Registered dog breeders to find out more.
If you have decided to take on a dog re-homed from a rescue centre, ensure the charity is a member of the Association of Dog and Cat Homes as these too have an agreed set of minimum standards. Most have a standard adoption procedure and the majority would welcome you visiting the home to meet the staff and talk through your queries in advance of making any decisions. Find out more by following the link to rescue / re-homing centres.
The aim of any reputable breeder or re-homing centre is to supply you with a dog that best fits your situation. In that way everybody will be happy and your family will enjoy and benefit from having a new member.
